Thursday 29th October – Windsurf * River Orwell at Levington Marina – sunny start then rain.

Foil – 17.96 knot max, 16.52 knot ave, 4.64 knot hour, 12.82 knot mile, 17.81 km., 14.3 knot alpha.

Starboard Freeride 150 and a Evolution Freeride foil with a Tushingham Storm 6.5.

After yesterdays trip to Levington Marina to foil which ended in no sailing due to lack of wind todays forecast was looking much better with a 20+ SW, sunny to start with raining arriving around one, so I headed down to the marina for 9 and things looked promising. Board was quickly set-up and several squib sailers were rigging to race and they said it was supposed to be 18 gusting 24 on the river so rigged 5.5. By the time I had my wetsuit on the wind looked pretty light so I quickly rigged my 6.5. I then had a poor couple of hours playing hunt the gust, I got flying a few times on the cover but it was pretty crap, then it clouded over and I got a few drops of rain and the wind dropped out completely so I slowly sailed back to back up, what a waste of time but at least I got home before the heavy rain arrived!

PS - just a note about yesterday, it was not a wasted trip to Levington marina yesterday as they had an open day so I had a look around, the highlight being the arrival of the Harwich lifeboat, even got to go on board:)
